Alert system for the steel industry

OUR ALERT SYSTEMS FOR INDUSTRY

THE STEEL INDUSTRIES

Steel industries are potentially dangerous working environments due to the presence of heavy machinery, high temperatures and other hazards associated with handling heavy and hot materials. In the event of an emergency, such as an industrial accident or fire, it is essential to have an alert system in place to notify employees and workers on site of the incident and help them evacuate quickly and safely.

HOW IMPORTANT IS THIS ALERT SYSTEM?

The combustion of coal or coke, when used in the manufacture and processing of iron, generates high temperatures. This production process produces carbon monoxide, which can cause death by poisoning within minutes. The greatest danger lies in the fact that carbon monoxide is odorless. Experiments have shown that it is possible for there to be local leaks, and even modern monitoring systems are not able to detect it in time.

In this case, the affected person loses consciousness. It is necessary to approach them wearing only a minimal breathing mask, immediately calling emergency services and warning people in the vicinity. In addition to gas leaks in daily operations, accidents, explosions and other dangerous situations that endanger the safety of people can also occur.

To solve this problem, we have developed a solution that allows those who detect such local accidents to report to the control post and activate the alarm signal on site (possibly elsewhere on the industrial site). This system allows in a way to manage the evacuation at the same time.

THE RIGHT SOLUTION

In fact, it is a powerful alarm system that immediately indicates and reports dangerous local conditions. When a dangerous situation and a threat to human life are identified, simply press the alarm button at the scene, and the system will send an alarm while notifying the early warning command center.

This system is designed for an industrial site. It uses a combination of technologies such as the Amadeo system, Vektra software, and smart and resistant buttons to facilitate the management of evacuation in the event of an emergency. It includes an interface for firefighter radios, allowing effective voice communication, as well as sound and light signaling for optimal dissemination of alerts.

The Man-Down Alarm System, is designed to cover dangerous areas inside an industrial site. This system can be connected and even integrated into the national alert system if necessary to alert the surrounding civilian population in case of emergency.

THIS SOLUTION IS TO BE IMPLEMENTED WHEN:

  • When there is a need for quick and easy activation of alert by any person who is on the company premises using the alarm button.
  • When it comes to very noisy operations and the sound system through standard speakers is not enough.
  • When it is necessary to increase process automation in order to trigger an alert when the emergency button is pressed
  • If it is necessary to increase the automation of the control center processes in the event of an extraordinary event being reported.

THE COMPONENTS OF THIS ALERT SYSTEM

ALERT AND WARNING COMMAND CENTER

The alert and warning center performs the following tasks, among others: Monitoring the entire system, monitoring the carbon monoxide concentration, activating the national alert system to warn the population, and Recording the communication from the command center.

AMADEO POWER PLANTS

The various farms include the Amadeo power stations, connected to the higher alert and warning center. They start operating autonomously. Each power station is connected to the sensors of the dangerous substances.

COMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE

This type of solution benefits in particular from the radio communication infrastructure. Communication via TCP/IP networks or a different line communication is rarely used.

SYSTEM CONTROL

System that can be controlled from: Alert and warning command center, Local control units connected to the control panels which, depending on the configuration, are capable of controlling other control panels, Mobile phones of the personnel providing an emergency team.
